Among the hotels of Florence, Hotel Boboli is one of the ones closest to Ponte Vecchio. Only 12 minutes on foot is what it takes to get to the bridge -renowned the world over for the historical goldsmith shops- connecting Oltrarno to the left bank of the Arno River.
Oltrarno is the typical district that for centuries has preserved the true character of Florence, due to its central location yet away from tourist's goings and comings.

Hotel Boboli is located only a 7-minute walk from the Boboli Gardens, a marvelous Italian style garden-park with important sculptures, designed through the centuries by the greatest Florentine architects, and Palazzo Pitti, the Renaissance residence of the Pitti bankers and then of the Medici, and of the dynasties that followed the Grand Duchy of Tuscany. Today it is one of the most important galleries in Florence and the world, housing an extraordinary collection of masterpieces by Raphael, Titian, Caravaggio, Rubens, Pietro da Cortona and other Italian and European masters of the Renaissance and the 17th century.
The Santo Spirito Church that overlooks the square of the same name, is only 10 minutes from the hotel. This is a work by Brunelleschi and one of the most beautiful and important in the entire city and an example of the Renaissance. Also with only a 10-minute walk from the hotel, you will be able to admire the frescoes of Masaccio in the Brancacci Chapel of the Chiesa del Carmine. Do not miss seeing the Deposition by Pontormo, a Mannerism masterpiece in the Santa Felicita Church, very close to Ponte Vecchio. At 17 Via Romana (Hotel Boboli is at no. 63) you will find Museo della Specola, the old Imperial Royal Museum of Physics and Natural History by Pietro Leopoldo di Lorena (1775) that houses interesting and curious natural and wax modeling collections. And at 500 meters from the hotel, in Piazza della Calza, you will find the Oltrarno Meeting Center at the Convitto della Calza, the prestigious conference center of Florence.
But above all, it is a true pleasure to walk the narrow streets and alleys of Oltrarno that have maintained their charm intact throughout the centuries and where you can find the many artisan, restoration, and antique shops that for generations have passed on the secrets and traditions of inlay, scagliola (imitation marble), leather work and many other techniques, from father to son. There are also a great number of typical inns and trattorias where you can stop to try any of the delicious dishes from the Tuscan cuisine such as finocchiona (fennel seed salami), crostini, ribollita (hearty soup), Florentine steak, accompanied by a good glass of Chianti or Brunello di Montalcino, red wines famous the world over
The stroll continues by crossing Ponte Vecchio where you will find yourself in the historic center of Florence. Waiting for you is the delightful spectacle of the Piazza della Signoria and the Uffizi Gallery, the Duomo with the cupola by Brunelleschi and the Churchbell by Giotto, the San Giovanni Baptistery and all the other famous museums and landmarks of Florence.
From Hotel Boboli, the Duomo can easily be reached by a 25-minute walk or in ten minutes by taking bus no. 11 that stops 50 meters from the hotel. To visit the historic center of Florence, a convenient way is to take the "Bussini" (line D stops at 100 meters from Hotel Boboli), the small buses that go by the streets of the center and stop near the most famous historic and artistic sites.
